Louisville (4-3) at Connecticut (5-1), 8pm ET Friday, ESPN
Forget USF and Rutgers; UConn is truly establishing the Big East’s legitimacy with their 5-1 record. Also, Vinny Testaverde is the best quarterback in the NFL, and Paris Hilton is disease-free. Louisville should firmly make their mark as loss #2 in UConn’s 7-game losing streak… mark down the next 5: USF, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Syracuse, and West Virginia. By December, UConn will wish they had just stuck to women’s basketball.
#14 USC (5-1) at Notre Dame (God-Awful), 3:30pm ET Saturday, NBC
God is clearly on Notre Dame’s side in this one. Heck, he already tried to crash USC’s plane. But just like everything else that Notre Dame has done this season, they’ve been left with unanswered prayers, and the plane landed safely. If God is going to forgive ND for their losing ways, this is probably the best time to do it.
Indians at Red Sox, 8pm ET Saturday, FOX
For the love of God, can someone explain to me why this game has to be played so damn late on a Saturday? It’s going to conflict with college football no matter what time you start on Saturday, so why not start it at a decent hour so I don’t have to sit through a “walk of shame” after the Sox lose at 1:30 in the morning? Carmona vs. Schilling. Fenway Park. 8pm on a Saturday. Deja vu much?
New England (6-0) at Miami (0-6), 1pm ET Sunday, CBS (or regional coverage)
For some reason, people keep citing Miami’s record against New England at Miami in September and October (just 1 loss in 12 games) as reason to think the Fins have a chance in this one. They don’t bother telling you that the last time the Pats played the Dolphins in Miami in September or October was in 2002, when both teams had matching 3-1 records. But really, NFL analysts, thanks for that remarkably relevant statistic!
