In the spirit of Halloween, I’ve established the five scariest sports costumes for the West Coast (as opposed to above, the likely costume for all of a dozen Knicks fans left). These five were chosen for their overall terror that they cause on anyone remotely close to a “Sports Fan:”
5. Tim Duncan - Because let’s be honest, what NBA team is NOT afraid of him? He’s won 4 titles in the last nine years as well as 3 in the last 5. If I were any other team in the NBA I’d be shaking (especially after they raised the banner then beat up on the Blazers).
4. Grady Little - Not only does he scare Boston fans, but also Dodger fans. Granted he resigned recently and is likely to be replaced by Joe Torre, but seeing him again in SoCal would certainly scare even the toughest of tough Dodger fans (which isn’t exactly tough).
3. Any “Boston” team - From the Red Sox beat down of both the Angels and the Rockies in the MLB post-season, to the Patriots demolishing all in their path (including the Chargers), to the Celtics looking like the beast of the east, to the BC Eagles still undefeated and yes, even the Bruins are looking scary . Basically, walking around with a group of your friends dressed as a member of any New England sports team will pretty much scare the crap out of anyone.
2. Peter Magowan with a light bulb - Because nothing is scarier than an inept owner with grandiose visions running through his head. Especially after the Giants finally eliminated their locker room cancer.
1. Kobe Bryant in anything but a Lakers jersey - Because let’s face it - as much as the Lakers (and for that matter, everyone in Southern California) hate Kobe Bryant, they still don’t want to see him playing for another team, especially in their division. But now that you’ve got me thinking, this is one costume that could scare Boston fans right now:
