We Take Sports Seriously. But Not Ourselves.

Dear Joe,

Goodbye. We’ll miss you.

torre2.JPGYou know, for all the trash I’ve talked about the Yankees over the year, I’ve never said a bad word about you. Why? Well, you just had this aura about you that made you look appealing in our eyes. Mainly, you weren’t a cocky bastard like everyone you managed.

Oh, also, we beat your team en route to our first World Championship in 86 years. Thanks for that.

Joe, please don’t go! There are so many memories! Your last four seasons have been so kind to us Red Sox fans! Come on! Keep the Joe-mentum going!

Okay, fine. We can only hope that the Yankees will be lost without you. And on Opening Day 2008, Derek Jeter will be crying, kicking, and screaming in the clubhouse as his teammates try to drag him out onto the field.

See you soon, Joe. And if Francona goes and puts Eric Gagne on the mound with a 2-run lead in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the ALCS, see you real soon.

Love,
A Red Sox Fan

  1. Now that you mention it, I think hiring Joe to manage the Red Sox would be just the slap in the face G.S. and the Yankees deserve. Perhaps, Mariano Rivera would come in trade for Gagne!
